The clone has SCA sword fighting practice on Saturdays. Well, it’s actually more than just sword fighting, especially since he makes new weapons when he gets bored. (On Friday, he made a falchion, which he’d been wanting for years.)
As he was walking toward his truck yesterday morning, one of the neighbor’s cats came up to him and started twining his ankles. This was Lucy, a little Siamese.
I’m kinda proud of my clone for seeing the weird humor in this situation without me having to point it out to him. He even joked about Lucy saying, “Man, most mortal,” while she was twining and purring. (What she actually said was, “Meow, blrrrrfff.” I think that translates roughly as, “Hi, I’m a kitty, and you should pet me.”) Y’see, there was a fantasy novel in which someone with the same first name as my clone’s SCA persona was accosted by a pair of giant (tiger-sized, according to the novel) Siamese cats.
(The title for this post came from a line in the movie Hot Fuzz, which otherwise has nothing whatsoever to do with cats or corbies. There was a swan, though — “Just the one swan, actually.”)
