Writing Glitch 961

Today’s glitch:

Always capitalize the first word of a sentence. (I should not have to tell anyone this; once upon a time, at least, it was taught in early elementary school.)

Change 2 to two.

Add a period after ago and begin a new sentence with Now.

Add another period after zombie and begin a new sentence with When.

Add a comma after first.

The last sentence would benefit from a small bit of reworking… Add a comma after floor, delete the and after that, add a comma after back, delete the comma, add a comma after up, and consider making the last part actual spoken words: “What is going on?”

The zombie outbreak started two years ago. Now you find yourself cornered by a decaying zombie. When you do the unthinkable and bite it first, it falls to the floor, grows its skin back, sits up, and asks, “What is going on?”

About Thomas Weaver

For several years, I’ve been putting my uncanny knack for grammar and punctuation, along with an eclectic mental collection of facts, to good use as a Wielder of the Red Pen of Doom (editor). I'm physically disabled, and I currently live with my smugly good-looking twin Paul, who writes military science fiction and refuses to talk about his military service because he can’t. Sometimes Paul and I collaborate on stories, and sometimes I just edit whatever he writes. It's worked out rather well so far. My list of non-writing-related jobs from the past includes librarian, art model, high school teacher, science lab gofer… Although I have no spouse or offspring to tell you about, I do have eight cats. I currently spend my time blogging, reading, editing, and fending off cats who like my desk better than my twin’s.

I don’t know if there’s gonna be a party, but at this point, I’m seriously thinking of ending the series with Writing Glitch 1000. I’m running out of material for ’em, and if I keep going past one thousand, I’m going to have to start borrowing from published works instead of just raiding writing prompt boards on Pinterest.
